Petrophysics

Petrophysics is the study of the physical and chemical properties of rocks and their included fluids (also known as formation evaluation). A petrophysicist's job is to use all available information to analyze the physical and chemical properties of a rock. This information includes wireline data, core data, engineering and production logs, and mud logging data.
